International project meeting and “Learning, Teaching, Training, Activities” for digital trainers

From September 11 to 15, two project meetings were held simultaneously in Nicosia, Cyprus. All BLISS project partners participated in the meetings.

On two days, the second transnational project meeting (TPM) took place and over all five days, multipliers of the project partners, were trained in “Learning, Teaching, Training Activities” (LTTA) about the project and they were introduced to their subsequent role as digital mentors for teachers.

During the TPM, the previous project development, project changes and the next steps were discussed intensively. For this purpose, the status of the respective project results, for which different project partners are responsible, were presented and constructively discussed. This included project results such as the platform, the online course for teachers or the toolkit. In addition, the project partners explained in detail their planned contents and methods used for their responsible sessions of the “Learning, Teaching, Training, Activities”.

In the meantime, the training (LTTA) for a total of 18 future digital mentors from six project partners was held. During the sessions, Feedback on project results such as the DigitalHealth@School framework, a Europe-wide competence framework for strengthening digital health literacy in schools was gathered from the participants.. In addition Technical University of Munich has given a comprehensive introduction to “(Digital) Health Literacy”, and led three further sessions with the digital mentors: a collaborative research on freely available learning and teaching materials, so-called Open Educational Resources (OERs) in the countries of Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Romania and Germany; a needs analysis for the development of a European Charter with policy recommendations for strengthening digital health literacy; and a needs analysis from the perspective of digital mentors on necessary contents for the toolkit, that represents a core result of the project. The LTTAs also enabled the digital mentors to get to know each other.

Lisa Stauch and Prof. Dr. Orkan Okan held presentations on the latest evidence regarding digital health literacy in schools. In their project “Durchblickt!”, which they conduct in schools for schoolchildren, including teachers, in all sixteen German federal states, they have been able to generate first-time evidence on the state of digital health literacy in schoolchildren and teachers as well as on the state of teaching and learning digital health literacy in schools. After the presentation, the participants discussed the relevance of the key findings to the BLISS project and how the newly available evidence could inform the better development of the BLISS intervention.

With both events, the relationships, cooperation and communication between the partners could be further strengthened through the face-to-face meeting.

In addition to the content program by the TPM and LTTA, the project partners and participants of the LTTAs had time to immerse themselves in the culinary and cultural world of Cyprus together.
